A digital voucher that enables residents to respond to homelessness responsibly and provides an entry point to homeless people to access food, clothing, sleeping space and a pathway off the street.
Cycles of homelessness are entrenched due to cash giving behavior of well-meaning residents. Giving cash to homeless people fuels addiction & traps them in a life of begging & handouts. Mi-Change vouchers are an innovative tool that enable people to give responsibly to the homeless, while also supporting basic needs. Vouchers can be redeemed for food, clothing, & safe sleeping spaces, and are linked to developmental support services and a pathway off the street.Using a behavioral science research approach we propose to understand current barriers to voucher use and using these findings to improve use and redemption of these vouchers. This will include digitizing the purchasing, tracking & redemption of vouchers and opening new centers to increase accessibility for voucher redemption.
