Providing affordable financial services, insurance options and training in climate-resistant farming techniques to farmers in Zambia to bolster community resilience, improve incomes and food security.
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s leading humanitarian organization, dedicated to saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to create pathways to peace, stability, and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change.
In partnership with the Citi Foundation, the WFP Innovation Accelerator aims to enhance climate resilience and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers in Zambia. Through the SheCan program, this initiative will increase access to capital, help farmers connect to markets, and provide financial literacy training, including tools such as climate risk insurance. The Citi Foundation’s support is expected to improve the livelihoods and food security of 100,000 farmers over the next two years.
