Project Summary

Fostering prosperity in an economically depressed tourism dependent community by building bamboo homes for homeless families, providing vocational training, and securing land tenure for women.

Our project aims to revitalize a tourism-dependent community impacted by COVID-19 and gang violence. Focused on delivering dignified housing to impoverished families, we extend support through vocational training and seed funds. A key component involves granting land tenure to women. This holistic approach not only aims to recover lost jobs and businesses but also to ensure that the community directly benefits from tourism by involving local voices in planning and benefit-sharing. As a result, poor families will become more capable of funding home improvements or purchasing houses. This model, designed for scalability, will serve as an exemplary blueprint to replicate in other communities facing similar challenges, offering a pathway to widespread socio-economic recovery and growth
