Homelessness

The Fuller Center for Housing

United States
El Salvador

Project Summary

Building a housing-first community of Fuller Center homes to create a sustainable epicenter of opportunity and success.

Since 2014 we have enabled nearly 800 vulnerable families to move from slum-like conditions to 13 successful and vibrant communities in El Salvador. The strategic approach utilizes the construction of permanent, affordable and healthy homes as the centerpiece of a model that includes wraparound services addressing hunger, healthcare, and education to ensure the success of each family. Families participate in the construction and pay the costs of their homes forward using no-profit, no-interest loans to help fund homes for more families, thus creating an increasingly sustainable model as the scale increases. Citi’s funding will allow the program to increase its scale by enabling 60 families in Apaneca to have a home of their own in a community they love.
