Bangladesh

Project Summary

Supporting farmers in Bangladesh by promoting environmentally friendly farming practices, setting up grain and seed storage facilities, connecting farmers to markets and supplying essential weather updates.

SAJIDA Foundation, a value-driven NGO, holds a 51% stake in Renata Ltd, a leading Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company. Operating in 36 districts, SAJIDA impacts 6 million lives annually through development programs, financial services, and healthcare, prioritizing sustainable, community-centered initiatives for marginalized groups.

Its largest program, Microfinance, serves over 793,000 clients—93% women—by providing flexible financial services to unbanked micro-entrepreneurs and SMEs, promoting women's empowerment. Other key programs include SUDIN for urban poverty, Women's Health & Livelihood for rural women, climate change initiatives, mental health services, and WASH for safe water and sanitation.

Supported by the Citi Foundation, SAJIDA’s Climate Change Program aims to build climate-resilient food systems in Bangladesh. The project enhances food security in vulnerable regions through climate-smart agriculture, storehouses, market linkages, and weather information dissemination, aiming for replicable solutions nationwide.
