This project will empower 480 Tanzanian homeless youth to safe housing and sustainable income via a peer support model that encompasses vocational skills training, and income opportunities.
Railway Children Africa's Leaving the Streets Behind Youth Project will facilitate vocational skills training, housing, and income opportunities for 480 homeless Tanzanian street-connected youth aged 15-24. Participants will receive intensive peer support to increase resilience and self-sufficiency. The program aims to transition youth to safe accommodation and sustainable livelihoods through skills development, work placements, business mentorship and start-up support based on an evidence-based group empowerment model proven to enable vulnerable youth to overcome the challenges they face.
