The "Home Return for HK's Migrant Mothers Project" addresses homelessness among migrants and their children in Hong Kong by facilitating their voluntary reintegration into their origin countries.
PathFinders’ Home Country Return project creates end-to-end, humane pathways for migrant mothers and their children who have volunteered for reintegration back to their countries of origin. This includes preparing them through education workshops, coordination with Indonesian and Philippine government agencies and partnerships with NGOs in Indonesia to explore livelihoods and safe places to shelter. After a pilot of several years, PathFinders is ready to scale the various aspects of this project to further develop its potential as a reintegration model. This will include enhancing the content of preparatory workshops, conducting impact studies, and awareness raising among MDWs on the risks of overstaying and its dire contributions to housing insecurity and children’s underdevelopment.
