The Pride In Placement Initiative, led by the Los Angeles LGBT Center, addresses housing instability among low-income LGBTQ+ youth and older adults in Los Angeles County, tackling barriers such as discrimination and a lack of affordable housing. Despite successfully housing over 80 individuals outside primary facilities last year, challenges persist, including isolation from the Center’s main campus support services. Leveraging 54 years of advocacy, the initiative enhances access to affordable housing and builds community support networks to improve housing stability. This approach involves outreach, education, and partnership efforts to ensure permanency and a supportive ecosystem, strategically meeting immediate housing needs and fostering long-term well-being for the LGBTQ+ community.
