Participatory processes to reinforce traditional housing to address homelessness and increase the resilience of the most vulnerable population in Mexico.
The comprehensive reconstruction program in rural communities in Guerrero is aimed at reducing the vulnerability and increasing resilience in one of the poorest areas of the Country. Since 2013, we have been accompanying collective and participatory processes in communities hit by hurricanes and earthquakes, resolving the homelessness with solutions appropriate to the physical, geological, climatic and cultural context. The central axis of the program is the training on reinforced traditional housing, self-produced by the inhabitants through the exchange of technical and traditional knowledge. During this process, people are strengthened, generate awareness of socio-environmental risks and strengthen the social fabric by rescuing decision-making and community work practices.
